Déjà Vu: Kobe and Vanessa Bryant List (Another) Mediterranean Mansion in Newport Beach

$

0

Kobe Bryant HomeIt’s clear Kobe Bryant and his wife, Vanessa, are fans of Mediterranean-style mansions. The couple owned two of them right around the corner from each other in Pelican Ridge Estates, a 24-hour guarded and gated community in Newport Beach. They sold one of those homes in January for $3.22 million, and just listed the other for $8.599 million.

The home they listed on Monday spans 8,471 square feet, with four bedrooms and 5.5 baths. It sits on about half an acre at the end of a cul-de-sac, with unobstructed ocean and city views (just like their other one). But unlike their other one, this one comes with an 850-square foot gym, a hair salon, home theater, wet bar, and a library with a shark tank. Because everyone needs a shark tank! In addition, there is a master suite with a sitting room, large marble bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Outside, there’s a custom pool and spa with water features, manicured lawns, a fire pit and an outdoor kitchen/built-in barbecue.

Kobe and Vanessa purchased the home from Dwight Manley, the agent for Karl Malone – who Kobe had a falling out with after Malone reportedly made “several inappropriate comments” to Vanessa. For additional information and photos of the home, check out the listing on Redfin.com.

Vanessa Bryant HomeThe other home around the corner was rumored to be occupied by Vanessa’s mom, Sofia Laine. Kobe and Vanessa purchased the home in 2003 for $2.65 million, but Kobe took his name off of the deed in January 2012, when the two considered splitting up. The home spans more than 6,000 square feet, with five bedrooms and 5.5 baths. Much like the other home, this one has a library, gourmet kitchen, multiple fireplaces, a huge master suite, a spa, built-in barbecue, and manicured lawns. The listing on Redfin has additional details and photos of the home.

Kobe and Vanessa now live a few miles away, in a 14,500 square foot home they purchased in 2008 for $9.45 million. It’s located in a gated community called Pelican Crest Estates, not to be confused with Pelican Ridge Estates. Once again, it’s Mediterranean-style, on more than half an acre, with views of the city. It has six bedrooms, 9.5 baths, a private pool and spa, and a five-car garage. Additional details are on Redfin.com.

What do you think of the Bryants’ homes? Are you a fan of the Mediterranean style? Tell us in the comments!

Jessica Simpson Drops Price of Home by $700K

Jessica Simpson HomeAfter three months on the market, Jessica Simpson has decided to drop the price of her Beverly Hills estate by $700,000, from $7.995 million to $7.295 million. Even with such a significant price drop, she still stands to make money from the sale. Simpson purchased the home in 2005 for $5,275,052. It was the first home she lived in following her divorce from Nick Lachey.

Talk about a bachelorette pad! The home spans 5,500 square feet, and was renovated by famous interior designer Rachel Ashwell of Shabby Chic Couture. It features a gourmet kitchen, giant master bedroom, media room, library, and gym. The backyard is walled and gated, with lush landscaping that keeps it totally private, so Simpson can enjoy the pool.

The home was once owned by Ellen DeGeneres and talent manager Rick Yorn. It’s located next to other celebrity homes, including Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman. “This area of Beverly Hills is dotted with homes owned by celebrities. You can often spot a star walking their dog through the many canyon trails nearby,” said Corina Galen, a Redfin real estate agent in Los Angeles.

Simpson may be antsy to sell this home so she can have the funds to work on her new home, which she purchased from Ozzie and Sharon Osbourne in March. Her new home is located in Hidden Hills, CA, and spans 10,953 square feet, with six bedrooms and six baths, offering plenty of space for her children, Ace and Maxwell, to play. It was decorated by another renowned designer, Martyn Lawrence-Bullard. For photos, check out the June 2011 issue of Architectural Digest. The Osbournes are familiar with selling homes to pop princesses; in 2007 Christina Aguilera purchased the home where “The Osbournes” was filmed. More info and photos on that home are available on the listing.

Liberace’s Las Vegas Estate Sells for $500K

Liberace Las Vegas HomeThe Las Vegas mansion once owned by Liberace, the renowned pianist and “King of Showmanship,” just sold for $500,000. Liberace bought the estate in the 1960s, and owned it until his death in 1987. It was later used as a banquet venue for weddings and other events. In 2006, Terrance Dzvonick, a real estate investor, bought it for $3.7 million, but quickly ran into issues operating the venue space. Neighbors complained of noise and traffic due to events held at the home, and ultimately the county zoning board denied Dzvonick’s license to operate. Without a business, Dzvonick couldn’t make the more than $20,000-a-month mortgage payment, and the home went into foreclosure.

Liberace Piano BarJP Morgan Chase has owned it since 2010, which means it hasn’t had any TLC for the past three years. The listing photos show stained walls, cracked tile, exposed wiring, and peeling wallpaper. But it’s still easy to imagine the Liberace-style grandeur that it once had. There are crystal chandeliers, custom marble pillars, and etched glass throughout. Piano key artwork can be found in the kitchen and bathroom, and there’s a mirror-covered bar with a white piano and Liberace’s signature inscribed on it. The spiral staircase that cost $75,000 to transport from France still remains, and there’s a room covered in copper tile worth $350,000. There’s a portrait of Liberace above the Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, and a mural in the bedroom that Liberace claimed was worth $1.5 million, because it was “painted by a descendent of Michelangelo,” though the truth of that has not been confirmed.Liberace Las Vegas Home Mural

Get Surrey reports that the mansion was purchased by Martyn Ravenhill, a lifelong Liberace fan and vacation property salesman. After seeing news reports of how dilapidated the property had become, he decided to rescue it, and purchased it for his 50th birthday. He plans to work closely with the Liberace Foundation to restore the home to its former glory.

For more information on Liberace’s other homes, check out Behind the Candelabra and Inside the Homes of Liberace.

What do you think of the home? Was it a good investment for Ravenhill? Tell us in the comments!

After Buying Lance Armstrong’s House, Bret Curtis Lists Austin Castle

Lance Armstrong Modern HomeIt looks like professional race car driver Bret Curtis is swapping the old world for the new. In May he purchased Lance Armstrong’s Austin home for somewhere around $4.34 million. The modern-style home was designed by architect Arthur Andersson and features stone, steel and unique geometrical shapes. Curtis is now trying to unload his other home in Austin, which he just listed for $9.95 million.

Bret Curtis CastleKnown as the “castle in the woods,” the home embodies old-world architecture, with Gothic arches, stonework, and Moorish domes. An English-country garden, wrought iron chandeliers and antique furniture complete the castle-inspired look. It spans 16,722 square feet, with seven bedrooms and 7.5 baths. The home comes with a resort-style pool, outdoor kitchen and living areas, a separate carriage house and guest house, a 1,500-bottle wine cellar, gym, elevator, and seven fireplaces. It sits on five acres in Barton Creek, a prestigious country club community.

Curtis first listed the “castle” on April 8, 2013, for $9.7 million, but pulled it off the market less than two weeks later, on April 17. He’s now trying to sell it for $250,000 more. Curtis purchased the home in January for $7.5 million, so he stands to make a lot from the sale.

Which home do you like better, the modern architectural, or old world castle? Tell us in the comments!

Taylor Swift’s Childhood Home Sells for Nearly $100K Under Asking Price

$
0
0

TaylorSwiftChildhoodHomeThe Pennsylvania home where Taylor Swift grew up just sold for $700,000, which is $99,500 UNDER the asking price. At first glance that seems like a major price reduction, but don’t worry, the sellers will still be popping the champagne tonight. They purchased the home in January 2007, at the height of the real estate bubble, for $480,000, and listed it on May 9 for $799,500. Perhaps the major increase in list price had to do with the home’s history.

According to the listing, Swift “lived here for 10 years before moving to Nashville to become a star!” The home no doubt had some influence on the young singer. The listing states that Swift practiced guitar in the study, which is a bright room with a cozy fireplace. The family moved out of the home when Swift was 14, and it was clear that Nashville was where they needed to be for her career.

The seller of the home, Daniel Mashevsky, had no idea who owned it when he bought it, because Swift’s career was just getting started at the time. He told Philly.com that fans began showing up at the doorstep once her career took off. He also mentioned that as he and his wife were renovating the home, they came across some old mementos from Swift, including a note she wrote called “‘I love Disney World.” We can imagine the sweet-as-candy pre-teen drafting a ballad about the joys of Disney at this home, which is about as picturesque as the star.

The home is located in Wyomissing, PA, and was built in 1929, in a classical revival style. It has been lovingly restored by Mashevsky and his wife. The exterior of the home has white columns at the entrance, classic window shutters, and large windows peeping out of the third floor. The interior has a classic design that makes it easy to imagine a young Taylor Swift roaming the halls with her toys, though it looks much different now. The Mashevsky’s remodeled the bathrooms, added new carpets, new wallpaper, and restored the interior and exterior trim and stucco.

There’s no word yet on who bought the home, but we’d like to image it’s a Taylor Swift fan who feels like they’re The Lucky One. For additional details and photos of the home, check out the listing on Redfin.com.

Wayne Newton’s Las Vegas Ranch Hits Market for $70 Million

$

Wayne Newton HomeCasa de Shenandoah, a 36-acre ranch once owned by Wayne Newton, just hit the market for a whopping $70 million. Newton and his family have lived at the ranch since the 1960s, but in 2010 it was purchased by CSD LLC for the purpose of turning the home into a Wayne Newton museum. Unfortunately the project failed due to legal disputes, and the LLC went bankrupt. The Newton family owns 20 percent of CSD, but not enough to keep the home.

The home is also a zoo; Newton used the home to keep his prized Arabian horses and a few other animals, and CSD acquired even more animals for the museum, including sloths, wallabies, penguins, lemurs, and more than 100 birds. The animals have since been sold to the Zoological Wildlife Conservation Center and the Sloth Captive Husbandry Research Center in Rainier, Ore.

And that’s not the only wild thing about this house. There’s a jumbo jet terminal that allows the plane to pull right up to the home. There’s not just a garage, but a “car museum,” with seven double doors. In addition to the main house, which has three bedrooms and 3.5 baths, there are seven additional homes on the property. Other details include 37 stables, an “equestrian pool,” acres of corrals, a gaming room, green room, and tennis court. According to the listing, CSD LLC has invested in excess of $15-20 million in improvements. It is listed by Dale Thornburgh, Synergy Sothebys International.

For photos and more information, check out the listing on Redfin.com. What do you think of the home? If you had $70 million, would you buy it?

Ellen DeGeneres & Portia de Rossi Sell Equestrian Ranch for $10.85M

Ellen & Portia RanchThe equestrian ranch owned by Ellen and Portia just sold for $10.85 million, which is $2.145 million under the asking price, but much closer to the original asking price. The couple put the home on the market for $10,995,000 in June, and then increased the price to $12,995,000 in August. Rumor has it that the increase in price was because all of the fabulous furniture, which they spent years collecting, would be included with the sale of the home.

The ranch is located in Thousand Oaks, CA, and includes eight farmhouse cottages, an art barn, a yoga pavilion, tree house, tennis court and more. It is in the heart of Hidden Valley, and sits on 27 wooded acres. For a detailed look at the home, check out this YouTube clip from Interior Pixels, and the listing photos on Redfin.com.

Ellen and Portia have been keeping their real estate agents busy this year. In August they sold a condo in Beverly Hills for $843,900, and in May they purchased a $26.5 million dollar mansion in Montecito.

Versace MansionGianni Versace’s palace, known as Casa Casuarina, sold at auction today for $41.5 million. Mischa Barton Lists Beverly Hills House for $8.695M

Mischa Barton HouseMischa Barton, best known for her role on The O.C., just listed her mansion in Beverly Hills (not Orange County!) for $8.695 million. She tried to rent it back in February for $35,000-per-month, but must have decided that being a landlord isn’t for her.

The Spanish-style villa is located in Bowmont Estates, a prestigious gated community. It spans more than 7,600 square feet, with four bedrooms in the main residence and two separate guest quarters. The living room, dining room, family room, library and master bedroom all have fireplaces! There’s also a gourmet kitchen, gym, library and maid’s quarters. Outside, tall shrubs and flowers line the pool and spa. The property spans more than an acre, and comes with spectacular canyon and Catalina Island views.

The TV star turned fashion maven purchased the home under her own name in August 2005, just after season two of The O.C. She bought it for $6.4 million, so she stands to make a few million from the sale. Other celebrities in the area include John Stamos, Steve Martin, Penelope Cruz and Cher. Additional details and photos are available on the listing page.

What do you think of Mischa Barton’s home? Is it exactly what you pictured her living in?

Mark Wahlberg Sells Beverly Hills Estate for $12.995M

Mark Wahlberg HomeAfter nearly five years on and off the market, actor and producer Mark Wahlberg finally found a buyer for his Beverly Hills mansion. The home just sold for the asking price of $12.995 million, much less than what Wahlberg tried to get for it in 2008, when he listed it for $15.9 million.

The 11,500 square foot home is a far cry from Wahlberg’s humble Boston roots. It comes with a screening room, recording studio, and a detached gym with a full-size boxing ring where Marky Mark stays in shape. Outside, there’s a sports court for playing basketball, tennis, or racquetball, a putting green, and a swimming pool with a water slide. The home is designed for entertaining, with a two-bedroom guest house, large living and dining areas, and plenty of space to hang out by the pool. It sits on nearly two acres overlooking Benedict Canyon.

Wahlberg purchased the property in 2001 for around $5 million, and spent two years remodeling the estate, which might explain why he first listed it for $10 million more than he paid. The home is listed by Hillel Sanowicz, of Keller Williams Realty Los Feliz. Additional information is available on Redfin.com.

In May 2009 Wahlberg purchased more than six acres in Beverly Park for $8.25 million. He then commissioned a 34,000 square foot Mediterranean-style villa designed by Annette English and the Landry Design Group, which also designed the homes of Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen, Wayne Gretzky, Kenny G. and Rod Stewart. Wahlberg’s new custom-built home includes a home theater, massive wine cellar, kids rooms with adorable built-in beds, and a large home gym. You can check out the photos on Annette English’s site.

Zac Efron HouseThe Hollywood Hills can lay claim to one more celebrity resident: Zac Efron. The “High School Musical” star just purchased a five bedroom home for $3.995 million. The house was built in 1964, and although it comes with state-of-the-art electronic capabilities, it maintains a 1960′s vibe. It’s perched on .81 acres on the top of a hill, with city-to-ocean views. Redfin Agent Gena Mattison toured the home, and left the following Tour Insight: “Gorgeous views! Move in ready home with 3 master suites downstairs with large living room in the middle. Every room has a view!”

The home is down the road from the Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie compound, and other celebrities in the area include Eva Mendes and Christina Ricci. Amenities include a chef’s kitchen, spa-like master bath, gym, pool and spa, and a wine cellar. It is situated down a long, private driveway, and comes with a security system that will ensure Efron has plenty of privacy. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room take advantage of the views. The expansive walk-in closet has a manly vibe, with dark wood cabinets. The home also comes with a guest house, so the 25-year-old actor will have a place for friends and family.

Efron still owns his super modern home about six miles away, which he purchased in 2008 for $2.35 million. The 2,400 square foot home features entire walls of glass that open up for an indoor-outdoor flow. Photos are available on Redfin.com.

Both homes were purchased under Maria Kasleweiss Trust. For additional photos and information on Efron’s new home, check out the listing on Redfin.com.

Orlando Bloom Lists Hollywood Hills Home for $4.5 Million

Orlando Bloom HouseOrlando Bloom is ready to sell the home that fell prey to the Bling Ring back in 2009, placing it on the market for $4.5 million. Bloom has been renting the home since August 2013 for $16,500 a month, but it looks like he doesn’t want to be a landlord anymore. Meanwhile, he and wife Miranda Kerr have moved to New York City, where Bloom is currently making his Broadway debut in “Romeo and Juliet.”

Bloom purchased the ranch-style home in March 2007 for $2.75 million, and upset his neighbors when he painted the entire thing black. A few years later it was burglarized by the infamous Bling Ring, who stole designer clothes, Rolex watches, and a large amount of cash, all together worth nearly half a million dollars.

“After Orlando’s home was robbed by the Bling Ring in 2009, it’s clear that security became a priority for him. There are security cameras installed throughout the house, and there’s a gate at the driveway to make it difficult for any quick getaways. Tall trees and hedges line the property, creating a private little sanctuary,” said Eric Tan, a Redfin real estate agent in Los Angeles.

The four bedroom, 3.5 bath home spans 3,248 square feet, and is surrounded by trees on 3/4 of an acre. The home itself is located in a gated community, and then there’s a long driveway that leads to another gate. The home is designed to take advantage of the lush landscaping, with an outdoor dining patio with built-in barbecue, a master suite that opens out onto the pool and spa area, and a large loggia that takes advantage of evening city light views. The pool comes equipped with a swim machine, where Bloom could work out. There are fireplaces in the den, kitchen, and living room, and the interior features hardwood floors and French/Mullioned windows.

The home is located in the Hollywood Hills, a few houses down from Charlize Theron, Ryan Reynolds, and Jason Statham. For additional photos and information, check out the listing page on Redfin.com.

Cuba Gooding Jr HouseCuba Gooding Jr. just listed the Pacific Palisades home that he’s lived in since 2000 for $11.995 million. The “Machete Kills” star purchased the home for $3.5 million, and made it his pet project after he bought it, undertaking a major renovation that lasted two years.

The seven bedroom, 6.5 bath home features a roller hockey rink, pool, spa, home theater, six car garage, boxing gym, wine cellar and butler’s pantry. Interior details include French doors and windows, walnut and stone floors, beamed ceilings, and a master bedroom with a fireplace, terrace, marble bath, and giant closets. The English Country-style house was built in 1941, and underwent a remodel in 1975, before Gooding Jr. bought it. The resort-style grounds include a private driveway, expansive lawn, and a detached guest house.

On August 9, 2013, Gooding Jr. sold his home in Northridge, CA, for only $735,000. Redfin agent Julie Jacobson toured the home, and left the following Tour Insight: “The home has new paint and carpet, but seems to have mostly original cosmetics otherwise. The den, kitchen and formal dining room all have access to the backyard and a large very overgrown patio. There is one bedroom downstairs, with office built-ins adjacent to the bathroom, and the remaining bedrooms are upstairs, including a master suite with private balcony. There’s also a huge bonus room with hill views and built-ins on the second level. The backyard has a bit of grass, but is mostly patio and pool with some slope over a busy street, but with a lot of mature foliage. The attached garage has an internal entrance that leads to the laundry room.”

What do you think of the home? Can you picture Cuba Gooding Jr. roller skating on his property?

Jessica Simpson HouseAfter multiple major price drops, Jessica Simpson sold her Beverly Hills home for $6.4 million, which is $95,000 under the asking price. She bought the home in December 2005, shortly after her divorce from Nick Lachey, for $5,275,052. The five bedroom, six bath home spans 5,500 square feet, and sits on less than half an acre. It comes with a giant master bedroom, a chef’s kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances, a library and gym. The backyard has a totally private pool, thanks to the wall of trees surrounding the property.

The home was renovated by famous interior designer Rachel Ashwell of Shabby Chic Couture. Ashwell was originally brought on board to design baby Maxwell’s nursery, and Simpson was so pleased with the results that she hired her to design the rest of the house. Jessica Simpson isn’t the only celebrity to call this place home; it was once owned by Ellen DeGeneres and talent manager Rick Yorn!

Now that she has remarried and has expanded her brood with Ace and Maxwell, Simpson is moving into a new home she bought from the Osbournes in March. It’s located in Hidden Hills, CA, and is almost twice as large, spanning 10,953 square feet. For photos, check out the June 2011 issue of Architectural Digest.

Madonna HouseMadonna just sold her home in Beverly Hills, and although the sale came in at $3 million under asking, the Material Girl still made more than $5 million! She purchased the property 10 years ago for nearly $14 million from actress Sela Ward, and just sold it for $19.5 million, according to MLS data. It appears Madge is not like a virgin when it comes to making money on real estate!

The listing only had a single photo, but of course you can’t live in a “material world” without the finest of amenities. According to the listing description, Madge had the home recently remodeled with the “finest quality details.” The huge estate spans 17,000 square feet, with 15 bathrooms, nine bedrooms, two living rooms and a two-story dining room.

The home comes with all the amenities a singer needs to stay in shape, including a resort-size swimming pool, tennis court and gym. It also has everything a busy star (and her staff) needs to get through the day, including a full-size screening room, two offices, assistants’ offices, staff rooms, and two guest houses. The home offers plenty of privacy, with a gated entrance, a 500-foot tree-lined driveway, and lushly landscaped grounds.

By the way, don’t cry for Madonna, she won’t go homeless. She still owns properties in New York and London, and is rumored to be shopping around for another home in L.A. What do you think of her home? Is she truly a material girl?

Drew Barrymore HouseThe past few years have been eventful for Drew Barrymore. She got married, had a baby, and now she just sold the home where she had her wedding ceremony for $6.35 million. The six bedroom, eight bath home in Montecito, CA was the perfect spot for a backyard wedding, with sprawling lawns lined by citrus and avocado trees that offered plenty of privacy. Barrymore first listed the property on May 2, 2013, for $7.5 million, and then dropped the price to $6.9 million on September 6. The final sale price was $6.35 million, so it looks like the buyer negotiated down.

The listing photos reveal some of Barrymore’s eclectic taste and personality, including a living room with a photo of what appears to be a car crashed into water (with a woman swimming nearby), white furry rugs in the dining area, blue and white 50′s style refrigerators in the kitchen, and surfboards lining the garage. Baby Olive’s room is decorated with olive-colored walls, white trim, and matching floral chairs and curtains.

The traditional style home was built in 1937 and sits on more than two acres. It spans 6,000 square feet, and comes with a separate guest apartment, which no doubt got plenty of use during her wedding. Barrymore purchased the home on June 3, 2010, for $5,705,000. For more information, check out the listing page on Redfin.com.

What do you think of Drew Barrymore’s house? Is it the kind of home you pictured her living in?

Matt Damon House in MiamiMega movie star Matt Damon put his 12,705-square-foot home in Miami Beach on the market for $20 million back in April. After sitting seven months unsold, the property just dropped in price by about a million dollars, now listed at $18,999,000. The house is located on the prestigious upper North Bay Road where Jennifer Lopez, Alex Rodriquez and Calvin Klein are said to have lived.

Downtown Julie Brown HouseFormer MTV VJ Julie Brown, better known as Downtown Julie Brown, and her husband, Martin Schuermann, a former movie producer and CEO of Vision Industries, just sold their home in Marina Del Rey, CA, for $2.85 million. According to Rodeo Realty, which sold the listing, the home was featured in an episode of “Celebrity Wife Swap” this summer, in which Brown traded places with NBA star Lisa Leslie.

Downtown Julie Brown KitchenIf that’s the case, it’s not the first time the home has been on TV. Before they sold it, Brown and Schuermann tried renting the place for $15,000 a month, and it appears that they rented it to the producers of “Breaking Amish: Los Angeles,” which aired on TLC in July. The kitchen on “Breaking Amish” is identical to the one on “Celebrity Wife Swap,” although it looks much different than the one in the listing photos, so either it was remodeled drastically since then, or the listing photos were taken before the remodel.

Brown told ABC “we live a very stylish lifestyle and love the finer things that life has to offer,” which shines through in the photos. Each room is filled with modern furniture, sculptures, and pieces of art. The living room showcases an interesting mural in which different colors of bills were pieced together to create the overall image of a one-dollar bill.

Brown also told ABC “we like to host dinner parties where all of our friends come over and we get to cook a lovely meal for everyone to enjoy.” The rooftop terrace offers the perfect spot to entertain, with a hot tub, built-in barbecue, and views of Catalina, the Pacific Ocean and downtown city lights. Inside, the chef’s kitchen leads to the modern dining room, which features an acrylic transparent floor and a piano nearby.

The house spans 4,738 square feet, with five bedrooms and five baths. It includes surround sound wired throughout, a resort-style master suite with ample closet space, a game room, media room and gym. Additional information is available on Redfin.com.

What do you think of the home? Can you picture Julie entertaining celebrities there?

Holyfield Mansion Back on Market for $6.875 after Auction Fails

After failing to sell at auction, the legendary Evander Holyfield mansion in Fayetteville, GA is back on the market for $6.875 million. That’s more than a million less than the pre-auction asking price of $7.89 million. The sprawling 44,000 square foot mansion was purchased by JPMorgan Chase last year for $7.5 million, after Holyfield failed to make payments on his debt, estimated to be at more than $14 million.

Seven bidders participated in the auction, which took place Nov. 16-18, but the high bid of $6.98 million failed to reach an undisclosed minimum at which JP Morgan Chase would be obligated to sell. Apparently the bank has reconsidered what it will take, as the new asking price of $6.875 million falls below the $6.98 million bid.

The opulent mansion sits on 105 acres, and has been featured on numerous TV shows and movies. It has 109 rooms, including 12 bedrooms and 21 bathrooms. There’s also a pool that the listing claims is “one of the largest private pools in the U.S.,” holding 350,000 gallons of water. Other amenities include a boxing ring (of course!), a bowling alley, and a dining room that holds up to 100 guests.

Holyfield isn’t the only sports star whose home is up for auction. The auction for Michael Jordan’s home in Highland Park, IL, which was scheduled for Nov. 22, has been pushed to Dec. 16, 2013. A spokesperson for Concierge Auctions said the delay was because “the interest has been even stronger than we anticipated.”

Jordan, who still owns the home, first listed it on the MLS on Feb. 29, 2012, for $29 million, but failed to find a buyer. The 56,000-square-foot mansion comes with a pool, tennis court, putting green, nine bedrooms, 15 full bathrooms and four half bathrooms.

The Holyfield mansion is also not the only home of a famous athlete to drop in price recently. Last week legendary baseball slugger Barry Bonds slashed the price of his Beverly Hills home by $1.5 million, to $23.5 million.

The seven bedroom, 10.5 bath home spans 17,100 square feet and features European details like hand-painted Trompe L’oeil murals, Venetian plaster, imported limestone and Italian Travertine flooring. Amenities include a home theater, gym, pool, guest house and tennis court.

Which home would you buy if you had the cash? Holyfield’s, Jordan’s, or Bonds’? Tell us in the comments!
