Chris Brown Hollywood Hills Home

Chris Brown’s Home in the Hollywood Hills

Chris Brown has a habit of disturbing neighbors. In May of this year, Los Angeles city code officials ordered him to remove murals that he had painted on his home in the Hollywood Hills, after numerous complaints from residents in the neighborhood. Fortunately for them, Chris is moving on. As first reported on The Real Estalker, the rapper just listed his home for $1.92 million.

The ultra-modern three bedroom, three bath home comes with a salt water pool and spa, complete with lap swim jets, a sand pit, and an LED light show. Other amenities include a shower massage system, green roof, Crestron home technology system, outdoor fire pits, stone waterfalls, and movie projection screen.

Brown moved to the home from his condo in West Hollywood, after neighbors complained about his wild and raucous parties. He’s still trying to sell his West Hollywood condo, which he first listed on May 22, 2012, for $1.895 million. The condo has dropped in price a few times since then, and is now on the market for $1.695 million.

The luxury penthouse is located off the Sunset Strip and encompasses the entire top floor. Features include a built-in bar, direct private elevator access, a chef’s kitchen, and eco-friendly building materials. It also has architectural-style windows, skylights and patios from every side of the building to take advantage of the views. Both homes are listed by Manuela Villa, Coldwell Banker-BH South.

Which do you like more, the home in the Hollywood Hills, or the condo in West Hollywood?

Michael Jordan’s mega-mansion in the upscale Highland Park suburb of Chicago failed to sell at auction and is back on the market for $16 million after suffering numerous multi-million dollar price drops.

Michael Jordan’s home outside Chicago, IL is back on the market for $16 million. Listed by Katherine Malkin of Baird & Warner.

The home known as “Legend Point” was originally listed for $29 million in February 2012, and then lowered to $21 million nearly a year later. It was pulled off the market in late November to be put up for auction, but according to Reuters it failed to meet its reserve price of $13 million. Jordan is not accepting defeat -  or maybe just a little -  the 56,000 square foot estate is back on the multiple listing service again.

Now, this is no ordinary home. Set on more than seven acres, the secluded compound has nine bedrooms and 15 bathrooms. Some of the more interesting features; a beauty salon, cigar lounge with walk in humidor and a regulation-size professional-quality basketball court. Would you expect anything less from one of the most recognizable athletes in history?

Jordan told Concierge Auctions he lived there during his championship years and has fond memories in the home, but wants to downsize now that his children are grown. The five-time NBA Most Valuable Player has three adult children with ex-wife Juanita Venoy. And he’ll still have quite a few large pieces of real estate on his hands once Case de Jordan sells. MJ reportedly owns properties in North Carolina and Park City. We also can’t forget his custom built 28,000 square foot compound in Jupiter, Florida.

Take a closer look at the home and its interesting features on Redfin. Is this where you expected someone like Air Jordan to reside?

The Wonderful Homes of “The Wolf of Wall Street”

WallStreet2013poster“The Wolf of Wall Street,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio, depicts the extravagant life of Jordan Belfort, who swindled more than $100 million from mom-and-pop investors in the 90’s. Many scenes of the movie were set in Belfort’s houses, including a beautiful brick mansion on Long Island and a modern Manhattan penthouse. We dug in to see where those homes are located, what they’d be worth today, and where the real-life Belfort is living now.

Several people reported on Twitter that the Long Island mansion that was used in the film is located at 39 Chestnut Hill Dr, in Oyster Bay, NY. The house was built in 2001 and spans 12,724 square feet, on five acres of land. According to public records, the home was last purchased in 1993, for $475,000. It’s worth a lot more today! Based on comparable homes sold in the area, the Redfin Home Value Tool estimates the mansion to be worth around $4.12 million.

Belfort’s actual Long Island home, located at 5 Pin Oak Ct, was a little less extravagant, though still worth a pretty penny. Belfort sold it in 1991 for $1.55 million. The house was built in 1986 and spans 8,706 square feet, on two acres of land. The Redfin Home Value Tool estimates it to be worth about $2.76 million today.

According to the New York Daily News, the Manhattan penthouse where Belfort’s butler held a – let’s say – “intimate gathering” in the movie hit the market for $6.495 million. It’s located in the Milan Condominium building at 300 East 55th. Photos of the condo building are located at milannyc.com.

The real-life Belfort now lives in Hermosa Beach, CA, at 3423 The Strand. The mock-Mediterranean has four bedrooms, five baths, and is located right on the beach. It spans 5,000 square feet, and includes a chef’s kitchen, upstairs deck with dining space, a media center, steam shower, and two built-in barbecues on ocean-view decks. South Bay Digs has a video tour of the home on YouTube if you’d like to check it out. The Redfin Home Value Tool estimates it to be worth around $9.6 million based on sales of comparable beachside homes.

Leonardo DiCaprio Malibu Beach House

The complex was built in 1927, but each home has been remodeled with the latest appliances and finishes. There are a total of seven bedrooms, 6.5 baths, and 2,633 square feet. Amenities include multiple outdoor lounging spaces, a Jacuzzi, a long deck facing the beach, and a home gym. It was listed by Kathryn Bentzen, of Arete Estates. Khloe&LamarHomeAfter filing for divorce on December 15, Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom are ready to part from the home they shared in Tarzana, CA, outside of Los Angeles – the one they filmed their reality show in. The couple purchased the home under their own names on December 18, 2009, for $3.95 million, and just put it on the market for $5.499 million.

The Mediterranean-style seven bedroom, eight bath home is located in the guard-gated Mulholland Park. It spans 8,000 square feet and sits on .75 acres, with the back of the property facing a wilderness area with no other homes. According to the listing, the home features a master suite with three custom-built walk-in closets, a spa-like bathtub, and a shower that has personalized temperature settings and music capability.

The ultra-private grounds include a stunning pool with cascading water features, fire pits, hot tub, and an outdoor kitchen. The interior features textured wallpaper, tumbled stone, and mosaic accents. There’s also a library, chef’s kitchen, formal living and dining rooms, home theater and maid’s quarters. The listing agent for the property is Tomer Fridman, Ewing Sothebys I.R.

On April 16, 2013, Khloe and Lamar transferred ownership of their home to “Cathy Roberts Trust.” The trustee on that is Lester Knispel, Lamar’s business manager. It’s not clear if the trust is connected to “Cathy’s Kids,” the charity that Lamar supports; of which Knispel is the treasurer.

Are the listing photos reminding you of scenes from their reality TV show? Where do you think they’ll move to next? Tell us in the comments!

With Sunday night’s Golden Globes awards ceremony just around the corner, Redfin took a look at where the best actor and actress nominees spend their time off-camera. While many of the nominees come from countries outside the U.S., including Cate Blanchett, Judi Dench, Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet, most reside on this side of the pond. Read on for more on the homes of these fabulous actors and actresses.

Cate Blanchett resides in Sydney, Australia, with her playwright husband Andrew Upton. According to Ecorazzi.com, the couple is planning to do $1.5 million dollars worth of renovations on their $10 million dollar home to make it more eco-friendly. The renovations will include water recycling, a 20,000-litre water tank, solar paneling and energy-saving lights. Blanchett is also rumored to have purchased waterfront property on the island of Vanuatu, in the South Pacific Ocean.

America’s sweetheart, Sandra Bullock, currently owns two homes in the Los Angeles area, including one in Beverly Hills, which she purchased in 2011 for $16.19 million. The seven bedroom, eight-bath estate sits on more than four acres, with views of the L.A. city skyline. It also comes with a tennis court, pool, guest house, gym, and a screening room. Her other home is located in the Trousdale Estates area of Los Angeles. She purchased it for $1.485 million in 2001, perhaps for a friend or family member. But those aren’t the only homes in her real estate portfolio. Bullock also owns homes in Austin, New Orleans, Tybee Island, GA, Jackson Hole, WY and New York City.

Judi Dench – “Philomena”

Dench lives in the Outwood area of Redhill, in Surrey England. Her historical home, known as “Wasp Green,” was built in 1680 and sits on five acres. She shares the home with her daughter, Finty Williams, her daughter’s son, and assorted animals, including nine cats. According to Atgbcentral.com, “The front of the house is bright, tidy, and picturesque in a Country Life sort of way; the back acres, however, have been left alone, with only a small path cut through a thicket of brambles, nettles, and wild orchids.”

Emma Thompson – “Saving Mr. Banks”

Thompson’s home is located in West Hampstead Square, a suburb of London. According to More.com, “There aren’t many clues to tell you that you’re standing outside the home of one of Britain’s most exalted film actresses. There’s the pretty rose, a touch of pink against the gray, in the front garden and a climbing hydrangea that gives the house an air of secrecy. But otherwise it’s just an ordinary semidetached house in an ordinary street in an ordinary suburb of London.” According to The Telegraph, Thompson also spends half the year in Scotland, not far from Dunoon, Argyll.

Kate Winslet - “Labor Day”

In June 2012, Elba told Vulture.com that he’s too busy traveling to settle down. “I don’t have a place that I call home at the moment because there’s no point. I mean, I’m a traveling circus for a while. It’s weird. Like, if I wanted to go home, there’s nowhere to go. I just go to a hotel. But I’ve kind of gotten used to it,” he said. He once owned a home in London, located at 7 Wallace Rd, where he used to throw wild parties while filming season one of “Luther.” He now uses “7 Wallace” as his DJ name, his part time hobby.

When he’s in the states, he often stays with his ex-wife Kim Elba, where she and their daughter live. The home is located in Duluth, GA, outside of Atlanta. We may be seeing a lot more of the home soon; according to StraightfromtheA.com, Kim has been propositioned to appear on a new VH1 show that will be a spin-off of “Hollywood Exes.”

Tom Hanks – “Captain Phillips”

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson House

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are fans of the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles. They own three homes there, and another in Malibu, CA. The largest home, and presumably their primary residence, spans 14,500 square feet, with four bedrooms and five baths. The couple purchased it in 2010 for a whopping $26,081,000 million. The modern architectural home was designed by Gwathmey Siegel & Associates, and was once home to producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy.

Their other homes in the Pacific Palisades, which could be used by friends and family, include a one-bedroom, one-bath purchased in 2010 for $1.45 million and a four bedroom, six-bath home purchased in 1996. Their home in Malibu has four bedrooms, three baths, and spans 1,785 square feet. It was purchased in 1991 for $2.95 million. The Real Estalker reports that they also own a ski house in Telluride, CO, a multi-million dollar residence near Sun Valley, ID, and a New York City condo.

Matthew McConaughey – “Dallas Buyers Club”

Matthew McConaughey has generated a lot of buzz this year for his Golden Globe nomination for Dallas Buyers Club. If he wins, he’ll have plenty of space to celebrate in his $4 million home in Malibu that he bought in 2007. The four bedroom, three bath home was built in 1949 and sits on a lot of more than 49,000 square feet, giving McConaughey plenty of private outdoor space. In fact, McConaughey is frequently found surfing nearby.

Robert Redford – “All Is Lost”

Robert Redford’s love affair with Sundance, UT, where he now lives, started early in life. He bought his first two acres of land in 1961 for $500 and built a rustic cabin. And by rustic, we mean no running water. Redford told Men’s Journal in 2005 that he and his wife would snowshoe to the cabin carrying their young kids on their backs and would melt snow for water. Since then, he has purchased much more land, grown the Sundance Film Festival into a full-blown enterprise, and joined the Natural Resources Defense Council’s board to help preserve the area’s natural resources. According to Men’s Journal, he also owns homes in Napa Valley and Santa Fe.

Actress in a motion picture, musical or comedy

Amy Adams – “American Hustle”

Amy Adams, who is known for her raw, emotional roles in films like The Fighter, is back at it again this year with a Golden Globe nomination for Dallas Buyers Club. Adams bought her Connecticut style ranch house in the Beverly Crest neighborhood for $3.2 million in 2010. The home is situated on a quiet cul-de-sac, just minutes from the heart of Beverly Hills, and includes a gated pool, spa and astonishing ocean and city views. The purchase of her home coincided with the birth of her daughter, Aviana. According to The Real Estalker, “An electronic drive gate opens to a small flagstone motor court lined with lush plantings…note how the landscaping palette has been kept to just green things, a choice that along with the frosted glass paned garage doors lends a contemporary vibe to an otherwise architecturally traditional house.”

Julie Delpy – “Before Midnight”

The Paris-born actress moved to Los Angeles and into her West Hollywood home over a decade ago. Her modest abode, which she purchased in 1998 for $545,000, is just 930 square feet and was built in 1923. Despite her long and successful career—she starred in her first film at the age of 14—Delpy is a Hollywood underdog and gets her films financed in France, where her fame is more widespread. Her modest reputation in Hollywood might be impacting her real estate choices. She told the New York Times in May 2013, “I’ll never have five houses, so what, I just need one. Which I can’t have yet because I can’t get a loan!”

Greta Gerwig – “Frances Ha”

Gerwig has a lot in common with her character in “Frances Ha,” including her living situation; a shared apartment in New York. The actress told NYmag.com,“I recognize that maybe I should be at a point where I stop having roommates, but I’m not.” Her roommates include set designer Sam Lisenco and film producer Oscar Boyson. The apartment is located on the fourth floor of a building in Chinatown.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus – “Enough Said”

Despite her ongoing Seinfeld fame and her starring role in the critically acclaimed HBO series “Veep,” 2013 marked Louis-Dreyfus’ first live-action film performance in 16 years.  America’s favorite feisty leading lady bought her oceanfront Pacific Palisades home in 1994 for $1 million. The home has five bedrooms, five baths, over 5,000 square feet and was built in 1929. According to the New York Times, Louis-Dreyfus and her husband completed a massive renovation of the home in 2003, adding high-end energy efficient features and a motorized sunroof. Aerial shots of her home and other celebrity homes are available on CelebrityHousePictures.com.

Meryl Streep – “August: Osage County”

Meryl Streep House

It’s no surprise that Hollywood veteran Meryl Streep is up for another award nomination. And it’s no surprise that her Central Los Angeles home is just as modern and fabulous as she is. Streep bought her four bedroom, 3.5 bath house in February 2013 for $4.5 million. It was built in 1954 and has an architectural look and feel. According to Curbed Los Angeles, the property is Architectural Products’s 1954 Research House, which was originally designed by Honnold & Rex and recently majorly remodeled by Xorin Balbes. The home sits on 15,560 square feet and has sweeping canyon and city views. With all that land, it’s no surprise that the home is equipped with an in-ground pool, spa, hot tub and enclosed patio.

Christian Bale – “American Hustle”

Hollywood heavyweight Christian Bale proved that he’ll do anything to portray his latest character, including gaining 43 pounds to play Irving Rosenfeld in American Hustle. Between roles, you can find Bale in his $1.3 million home in the Rustic Canyon neighborhood of Santa Monica. He and his wife bought the home in 2001, just a year and a half after they got married. The house, which is also now home to their eight year old daughter Emmeline, has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and is nearly 2,000 square feet. It sits on just over 6,000 square feet of private, gated outdoor space and was built in 1923.

Bruce Dern – “Nebraska”

Bruce Dern resides in Pasadena, Calif. in his 2,554 square foot home that he and his wife purchased in 2004 for $1.01 million. Much like his character in “Wolf of Wall Street,” Leonardo DiCaprio is living large, but at least his wealth comes from legitimate sources. DiCaprio owns at least three homes in the Los Angeles area. His main residence is located on the “Bird Streets” above the Sunset Strip, and is actually two combined properties. He bought the first property in 1999 for $2.515 million. It was once owned by Madonna, and features a home gym, pool, spa, wine cellar, and a master suite with a large dressing room. In 2004 he purchased the home next door for $2.268 million, an ivy-covered villa with four bedrooms, six baths, and 5,500 square feet. DiCaprio also owns a home in Malibu, which he purchased in 1998 for $1.6 million, and he just sold another home he owned in the ‘Bu, for $17.35 million.

Oscar Isaac – “Inside Llewyn Davis”

Oscar Isaac grew up in Miami, the son of a doctor who bounced around from hospital to hospital. He told Hitfix.com that he lived “in Baltimore and then Louisiana – a couple of different places in Louisiana and then Miami – a couple of different places in Miami, then up to the kind of Palm Beach area – a couple of different places there, and back down to Miami.” After attending school at Juilliard, Isaac remained in the New York area, and now lives in a Williamsburg condo in Brooklyn. He told Freep.com that Llewyn Davis would fit in in his neighborhood: “I know countless musicians who are having the same struggle, and not just musicians but actors and artists who are frustrated because they have something to say but no one wants to hear it.”

Joaquin Phoenix – “Her”

In April 2013 Joaquin Phoenix purchased his next door neighbor’s house in Los Angeles for $1,390,700. There’s also a gym, office, maid’s quarters, and grassy yard with a custom outdoor fireplace and stone waterfall. His existing home was purchased on November 7, 2006 for $4.835 million, and was featured many times in the mockumentary “I’m Still Here.”

Oprah Winfrey is ready to unload one piece of her real estate portfolio, her condo in Chicago, which was just listed for $7.75 million. The duplex is located on the 56th floor of the Water Tower building, with sweeping views of the city and Lake Michigan. It’s 9,625 square feet, with four bedrooms and six baths. According to the listing, the unit is flooded with light, and features multiple living areas and two kitchens. There’s not just a master bedroom, there’s a master floor. In addition, there’s an exercise room, library, office and sitting room. It’s listed by Pamela Sage, from Baird & Warner.

According to Chicago Real Estate Daily, Winfrey paid about $3 million in three transactions in the early 1990s to combine four adjacent units in the building. It’s unclear if this unit is a combination of two units or all four. Regardless, the whole place is adorned with beautiful finishes and fabrics. The listing doesn’t provide interior photos, but to get a sense of what it looks like, you can check out this video from YoChicago showing a similar duplex in the building.

The homeowner’s association dues are $9,004 per month and include all of the amenities of a Ritz Carlton Hotel, including a health club, indoor pool, lobby/receiving room, doorman, security, concierge and room service. The building is located on the Magnificent Mile, and is part of a complex that includes the Water Tower Place mall, Ritz-Carlton hotel, and office space. At 74 stories, it a fixture of the Chicago skyline. There are currently ten other units for sale in the building, ranging in price from $1.225 to $2.25 million.

On Nov. 2, 2013, Oprah auctioned off furniture and decor from her home in Montecito, CA. The proceeds benefited  her leadership academy for girls in South Africa. She confessed in the March issue of O the Oprah Magazine that she was cleaning house to prepare for a major remodel of her home that will better reflect her personal style. The issue featured several “before” photos of the home; we’re hoping we’ll get to see the “after” pics soon! Oprah purchased the home for $19.95 million back in 1998, and it’s estimated to be worth about $85 million now. According to the listing, it sits on more than 40 acres of prime California real estate.

Robert Pattinson Home

UPDATE: The L.A. Times reports that Jim Parsons, the star of “The Big Bang Theory,” purchased the home!

After only two years, Robert Pattinson is ready to let go of the home he shared with Kristen Stewart before their breakup. The “Twilight” star just sold the Los Feliz for $6.375 million, which is only $100,000 more than what he paid for it back in September 2011.

According to the listing, the 4,000 square foot Spanish-style estate has three bedrooms and 3.25 baths. It sits on nearly 1.5 acres of terraced grounds overlooking the city. The home was built in 1922, and retains many original details, including custom tile, art glass windows, wrought iron fixtures, and intricately painted wood-beam ceilings. The lushly landscaped grounds are beautifully lit at night and have water features and fountains throughout. The home is walled and gated, keeping out any Twihards wanting a look. It’s listed by David Gray, Partners Trust Beverly Hills.

Where is Pattinson going to next? According to The Real Estalker, he’s currently renting a five bedroom, six bath home in Beverly Hills. The French Mediterranean estate is located in “The Summit,” a 24/7 guard gated community.  It comes with a sports bar, 70 inch flat-screen entertainment center, private pool and spa, and chef’s kitchen. The current owner purchased the home in April 2013 for $3.7 million.

In 2008 Kristen Stewart purchased a home in Pasadena for $628,000, but she moved out when her relationship progressed with Pattinson. She still owns the Pasadena home, but no longer lives there. In August 2012, she purchased a home just a few miles away from the home Pattinson just sold. It comes with views of the downtown L.A. skyline, an open floor plan that maximizes indoor/outdoor living space, and a chef’s kitchen with all the amenities. Outside, the pool and spa are surrounded by a fire pit, fountain, terraced gardens, and a yard with mature trees and lush foliage.

Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick Planning to List Home in Calabasas

Kourtneys HouseHot off the news that Khloe and Lamar are selling their home, today Domaine reported that Kourtney Kardashian plans to put her home on the market next week. She and Scott Disick purchased the four bedroom, five bath home in 2010 for $1.7 million. It’s located in “The Oaks” area of Calabasas, a little over a mile away from Justin Bieber’s house (where the Biebs was recently accused of egging his neighbor’s home). The area is home to many other celebrities, including Will Smith, Travis Barker, and David Hasselhoff. Kourtney moved into the home with Scott after selling her other home in Calabasas for $700,000 back in July 2010.

The home sits on half an acre and comes with stunning views of the city lights. It spans 5,334 square feet, and features a courtyard with a pond, a library/office, wine cellar, gourmet kitchen, and a master suite with a sitting area, fireplace, luxurious bath, and balcony. Details include crown molding, hardwood floors, designer window treatments, and an HAI Smart Home system. The lushly landscaped grounds feature a patio, fire pit, grassy area, stone pool and spa.

Kourtney told Domaine, “When we first started decorating, I wanted all white walls and for everything to be really simple,” she says. “Then I started saying, ‘I’m too young. This is my first house: I want to have fun!” Hopefully we’ll be able to see some photos when the home is put on the MLS! In the meantime, check out these lovely shots from Kourtney Kardashian’s Instagram account:

Bob Hope Estate Back on Market for $34 Million

Bob Hope Estate Palm SpringsThe Bob Hope estate in Palm Springs was just listed for $34 million, which is much less than the $50 million they were asking for when it was being shopped around off-market last February. Even at that price, it’d be $147,000 a month for a 30-year mortgage! The uniquely shaped home was designed by John Lautner and built in 1980. To-date it’s the largest private residence ever designed by the architect.

The home spans a whopping 23,366 square feet, with 10 bedrooms and 9.75 baths. It’s most prominent feature is a large domed roof that curves around the whole structure. It has been likened to a giant mushroom, or the open mouth of a whale. The roof also has a large hole carved out, which brings light to a courtyard at the center of the home.

The home was designed for hosting guests, and according to the listing, “The property has entertained dignitaries from all over the world and is viewed by many as one of the most iconic pieces of architecture in the world.” It comes with indoor and outdoor pools, a spa, a putting green and a tennis court. Other features include a guest house, maid’s quarters, and an elevator. The house sits on six acres in a guard-gated community, with views of the San Jacinto Mountains and Coachella Valley. It’s listed by Patrick Stewart, from Windermere Real Estate.

Hope’s other home in Toluca Lake, Calif. is still on the market. The family listed it on Sept. 23, 2013, for $27.5 million. The eight bedroom, eight bath estate is slightly smaller, at 14,876 square feet. According to the listing, “the original English Traditional main house was designed by architect Robert Finkelhor and then remodeled in the 1950′s by architect John Elgin Woolf.”

Lauren Conrad House 1

Lauren Conrad posted this photo of her home in Laguna Beach on her Instagram account.

“Laguna Beach” made her famous, but now it looks like Lauren Conrad is ready to move on. The reality TV star just listed her home in the area for $2.795 million. She purchased the house for $2 million back in May 2009, right around the time she left “The Hills.”

The three bedroom, three bath estate is located in the guard-gated Lower Three Arch Bay community in Laguna Beach. It spans 2,280 square feet and features “a large great room, dining room, gourmet kitchen and the finest of finishes,” according to the listing.

The property features a large tree-lined backyard and elegant pool. Peek-a-boo views of the Pacific Ocean are visible from the front deck, and the house has easy access to stairs that lead down to the pristine beach below. The home was built in 1966, but has since been upgraded with granite counter tops and Sub-Zero & Viking appliances in the kitchen.

Details include custom distressed walnut flooring, a custom brick driveway, French doors, an oversized family room, computer area, and one bath/bed downstairs. The community has access to tennis courts, basketball courts, and a park area. It’s listed by Cary Glenn, Main Beach Realty.

Lauren Conrad still owns a home in Brentwood that she purchased in April 2013 for $3,651,500. The house has six bedrooms, three baths and spans more than 4,300 square feet. She also owns a condo in Beverly Hills, which she purchased for $1.35 million in March 2012. The three bedroom, four bath condo was built in 1976, and the photos of the interior reflect that; it’s likely she has remodeled since then.

Twilight Star, Ashley Greene, Finds Home Sweet Home In Beverly Hills

Ashley Greene HomeAshley Greene, known for her role in the “Twilight” series as Edward’s vampire sister, just bought a home in Beverly Hills, Calif. for nearly $2.5 million dollars. According to the listing, the home sits on .36 acres of land, with garden walls surrounding the park-like property of mature shade trees and lush greenery. The beautiful high-beamed ceilings and open floor plan lends the 2,713 square foot estate to that indoor/outdoor experience throughout the grounds. The home includes three bedrooms and three bathrooms, including a fireplace, dry sauna, steam shower and soaking tub! And if Greene gets tired of all that indoor relaxation, she can always head right outside to enjoy a dip in her pool.

Outside of her infamous Twilight role, the star has appeared in movies such as “Butter,” “LOL,” and “The Apparition,” and landed a steady role in the TV series “Pan Am” back in 2011. But her career isn’t the only thing that has been catching fire for Ashley. You may remember Greene’s blazing antics back in 2013, when she accidentally lit her couch on fire with an unattended candle, torching her apartment and killing one of her dogs. And as if that wasn’t heartache enough, multiple articles state that residents of Greene’s former living quarters were looking to sue the actress over the blaze, due to smoke inhalation and water damage.

On a lighter note, according to Greene’s Twitter account, the actress recently paid a visit to the East Coast for the Super Bowl. But with the winter weather happening over there, Greene was probably excited to get back to California to enjoy her new home sweet home in the sun. Hopefully she won’t be lighting any candles in her new home anytime soon.

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe Wrap Up Real Estate Marital Matters

Phillippe and Witherspoon DuplexEven seven years after the divorce, Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe are still wrapping up their marital matters. But, at least this one yielded a little payback.

The two just made a little extra cash after parting ways with an investment property the duo shared when they were married. The couple originally purchased the Los Angeles duplex back in October of 2005 for a little over $1 million. The home includes four bedrooms, four baths, and was built in 1938. With a little TLC and some remodeling, the Los Angeles duplex sold this January for $1.44 million, leaving the stars with a bit of a profit.

The “Legally Blonde” star and Phillippe got hitched back in 1999, but after seven years of marriage, the two decided to split. And while they no longer share the two-unit L.A. estate, they do share two children, Ave and Deacon. Hopefully the divorced duo can amicably share their financial gains from the sale of their duplex.

But, not all is fair in love and real estate.

Maybe the couple would have had more luck in the marriage department had they consulted with Andrea Syrtash, relationship expert and author of several books including “He’s Just Not That Your Type, (And That’s a Good Thing).” The author was recently featured on the Redfin blog, giving tips and advice on how to go about the home buying experience with your one and only. So, if you don’t want to end up at home and alone this Valentine’s Day, check out our blog post, 5 Ways to Lose Your Mate Over Real Estate.

Happy house hunting you crazy love birds!

Evander Holyfield Heavyweight Mansion Sells For $5.879 Million

Holyfield MansionThe Evander Holyfield Estate in Fayette, Ga., just sold for $5.879 million. The buyer? Rap mogul, Rick Ross, who told REVOLT that he has wanted to buy the property for years. According to the listing, the massive estate sits on nearly 150 acres of land, and is the largest single family home in Georgia at 50,000 square feet. But the impressive size is no match for the knockout amenities, which include a 350,000 gallon pool, one of the largest private pools in the United States. The property also boasts a 135-seat movie theater, a dining room large enough to seat 100 guests, a bowling alley, and of course, a boxing gym.

The home, created by local Atlanta architects at PFVS architecture, was built in 1994. And in case you want to “take it outside,” the estate also includes a second home on the property, at 4,000 square feet, and a seven-stall barn. The home was originally shopped around for $8.5 million back in April of 2013, and went through six rounds of price drops before the buyer laid out the $5.879 million.

The sale is likely a welcome one for Holyfield, who is currently up against some financial issues. According to the New York Times, Holyfield seems to be in some debt, due to unpaid back taxes and child-support commitments. The iconic boxer had to move out of the estate he says once cost him a million dollars to maintain. He said the Christmas lights alone came to a whopping $16,000!

If you were inviting 100 people over, what would you serve at the mighty mansion?

“Glee” Star Harry Shum Jr. Buys House in L.A. for $997,000

Harry Shum HouseHarry Shum Jr., known for his role as Mike Chang on “Glee,” just bought a single family home in La La land for $997,000. The actor is a dancer on and off the air, and will now have plenty of room to dance the night away, with 1,821 square feet, three bedrooms and 2.25 bathrooms. According to the listing, the home was built in 1937, with high ceilings, hardwood floors and detailed molding. A gaming room and outdoor dining patio make great spots for Shum to privately rendezvous with his co-stars!

The home was originally listed back in November of 2013, until the Costa Rican born actor scooped up the Los Angeles property this February. Fun Fact: Harry Shum Jr. speaks both Chinese and Spanish! Shum purchased the home under “Primera Real Estate”;  the trustee is Andrew K. Meyer, a business manager for many celebrities, including cast members from the “Twilight” films, and TV series “True Blood” and “The Office.”

Redfin real estate agent Alec Traub toured the home himself, and left the following Tour Insight:

“Well maintained home with character and curb appeal on a quiet street close to Barham and the 101. Great bonus room on the downstairs level off the backyard that could have a number of possible uses.”

Looks like Harry has a lot of space in that gaming room. What kind of games would you have on hand for playtime?

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon List House in L.A. for $12.995 Million

Mariah Carey HousePop star Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon just listed their home in Los Angeles for $12.995 million. The 11,750 square foot home features seven bedrooms and eight baths, plenty of room for their twins, Monroe and Moroccan, to run around. In fact the listing photos show their adorably-decorated kids room, with matching cribs and cute stuffed animals.

The home features a giant gym, a Moroccan-style tea room, a putting green, movie theater and basketball court. The Hamptons-style estate sits on three acres, with views of the Stone Canyon Reservoir, downtown Los Angeles, and beyond. It was designed for entertaining, with a den that can accommodate parties of several hundred, and parking for 20 cars. The backyard has a pool with tons of outdoor seating and a large grassy lawn.

The couple purchased the home back in 2009 for $6.975 million, so it looks like they’ll make a pretty penny if they get their asking price. Fun fact: it was once owned by Farrah Fawcett, who lived there from 1976 to 1999. Fawcett sold it to Allen Sides, one of the most respected engineer/producers in the music industry, who then sold it to Carey and Cannon.

No word yet on where the couple is moving, but rumor has it that they’re renting a home in the Hamptons. What do you think of their home in L.A.? Is it diva-licious?

Ryan Reynolds (Finally!) Parts Ways With Bachelor Pad in L.A.

Around the time Ryan Reynolds was filming rom-coms like “Definitely, Maybe” and crushing the hearts of many, he purchased his very own Los Angeles bachelor pad in 2007 for $1.715 million. After two years Ryan was ready to unload the estate, and listed the home for $1.9 million in 2009. But, the economy had a few things to say about that, and the home went through a few price drops. It wasn’t until January of this year that a buyer finally snatched up the estate at $1.405 million.

The two bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home has beautiful hardwood floors, a fireplace, and a charming stone patio perfect for entertaining, with beautiful canyon views. The 1,789 square foot home is also quite green, with solar heating. Other stars in the neighborhood include Matthew Perry, and Reynold’s ex-wife, Scarlett Johansson.

But Ryan won’t be missing his bachelor pad anytime soon, at least not as long as his wife Blake Lively is around to keep him company. The incredibly cute couple decided to change coasts in February of 2012, but they weren’t exactly looking to move to the Big Apple, per se. Instead, the two landed in the quaint town of Bedford, New York, laying out $2.35 million for a new home. The charming abode comes equipped with three bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms and spans 4,753 square feet.  Although it wasn’t long until the two had a change of heart, in property that it is. Reynolds eventually dumped the Bedford property in August of 2013 for a bit of a gain, selling the home for $2.495 million.

It was just a few months later that they decided to pick up and move four miles away for a bit of an upgrade to Pound Ridge, New York, which is just the next town over from Bedford. The marital mates laid out $5.7 million for their new palace, which comes packed with privacy. The 8,892 square foot home is hidden away among the mature trees of central New York, situated down a long, meandering driveway. While it’s hard to imagine anyone going for a dip in the pool in this New York winter, the home does come with a few laps of luxury in the backyard, as well as what looks like separate living quarters and a barn.

Would you switch coasts to live through the New York winters?

Justin Beiber Atlanta

Photo from Dallas Austin’s Instagram

For the next three months, Justin Bieber plans to crash at the Atlanta home of record producer Dallas Austin. The 5,578-square-foot home looks like something straight out of “Star Wars,” with an odd white domed roof and futuristic architecture. Bieber will reportedly live at the producer’s space mansion while he works on his new album and searches for a more permanent, earthly home in Georgia.

According to TMZ, the young singer is looking for the perfect home in Atlanta, and he’s got some big requirements: It must be a secluded home on at least five acres of land and has to be at least 10,000 square feet. His target price is reportedly somewhere between $4 million and $10 million.

These four homes have exactly what the 19-year-old star wants.

Home 1

This plantation-style estate is on six acres of land. The home was renovated in 2009, and now has a separate baking kitchen and a butler’s pantry. The home has a terrace-level game room, music room, gym, arts and crafts room and a room leading to the pool. The fully enclosed property also has a tennis court, barn, three-bedroom guest cottage and a three-car carriage house.

Home2

This home sits on five sprawling acres of land and was built in the 1930s. A meandering driveway leads to the estate. Listing photos show a beautiful marble hallway with a twisting staircase. The molding detail throughout the home adds charm to the estate, which includes a pool and backyard entertaining area.

The home includes a fully furnished terrace level, bedroom suite, wine room and a game and media room. The home also has a guest house, surrounding gardens and woodlands, which add privacy.

Home4

421 Blackland Rd NW

Beds: 7
Baths: 11
Square Footage: 16,000

This gated Tuxedo Park home has a hand-cut stone exterior,  a two-story living room and a screening room. Elegant lighting with interesting wood and stone detail  add sophistication to the estate. The home also has a 70-foot pool and spa, a gym and a wine cellar.

Bieber still owns his home in Calabasa, Calif., but he may not be missed if he makes the move to Georgia. Cops were called to that home last March due to an altercation he had with a neighbor. According to the police report, Bieber had just purchased a new Ferrari and was recklessly driving it around the neighborhood. When his neighbor walked over to Bieber’s home to ask him to quiet down, Bieber became angry and supposedly spit on his neighbor. But Bieber’s neighborhood antics don’t end there. It was reported that Justin was caught throwing more than a dozen eggs at his neighbor’s home in January, an incident leading to the arrest of one of his house guests that night, Lil Za, for possession of illegal drugs.

Let’s hope Bieber has better luck with his neighbors south of the Mason-Dixon line. Maybe a little Southern hospitality will do him some good.

Which home do you think he will choose?

Leonardo DiCaprio Looks to Scoop Oscar Award … and New Home?

Leonardo DiCaprio Pacific Palisades Home

Listed by Rita Kurtz, Surterre Properties Inc.

Oscar nominee Leonardo DiCaprio might have a spot on his new mantel for that Oscar (if he wins!) after the awards on Sunday. According to The Real Estalker, DiCaprio laid out some Wall Street kind of dough for a new home this week. The A-list star is reported to have purchased a home for $5.23 million in Palm Springs. The home was listed on January 15 for $5.495 million, and Leo snagged it on February 24 for $265,000 less than the asking price.

DiCaprio’s new home is quite A-list itself, with a tennis court, beautiful outdoor pool with gorgeous surrounding views and open spaces for entertaining. The six-bedroom, 7.5-bathroom home spans 7,022 square feet. It was originally designed by architect Donald Wexler for singer and actress Dinah Shore in 1964. The listing photos show the home’s midcentury modern architecture and period furniture throughout.

This wouldn’t be the only property Leo has under his belt. In fact, he owns homes on both coasts, including at least three in the Los Angeles area. His main residence is on the “Bird Streets” above the Sunset Strip, and is actually two properties combined. He bought the first in 1999 for $2.515 million. It was once owned by Madonna, and has a home gym, pool, spa, wine cellar and a master suite with a large dressing room. In 2004, he spent $2.268 million on the home next door, an ivy-covered villa with four bedrooms, six baths and 5,500 square feet. DiCaprio also owns a home in Malibu, which he purchased in 1998 for $1.6 million, and he just sold another home he owned in the ‘Bu, for $17.35 million. It has also been reported that the leading man has property in Manhattan.

What do you think of his new home? Are you a fan of midcentury modern decor?

Yabba Dabba Doo! Dick Clark’s Flintstone Home Back on the Market for $2.995M

Dick Clark

Listed by Diane Carter, Coldwell Banker-Malibu Colony

The late Dick Clark’s Malibu home is back on the market for $2.995 million! The home was listed in 2012 for $3.5 million, but no one seemed to want the bedrock beauty at that price point. A year later, the price was slashed by a whopping $250,000 to $3.25 million. Even with that massive discount, the estate didn’t sell. It’s now listed for $505,000 cheaper than the original listing price, so perhaps 2014 will be the year this unique home sells!

Even if you’re not in love with the interesting architecture and stone aesthetic of the estate, the home comes with a heck of a lot of land: approximately 23 acres! According to the listing, the caveman crib is a Malibu landmark property, boasting a 360-degree view of the Pacific Ocean, Channel Islands and Boney Mountains. The voluminous interior space, paired with multiple windows looking out into the surrounding area, brings a lot of natural light into the abode. Vaulted ceilings give this architectural wonder an expansive feel. But if the buyer gets cabin fever from sitting inside a cave all day, the estate has direct access to national parkland  trails and is just minutes from the beach.

If you were going to decorate this home, what items and accent colors do you think would work best in the Stone Age structure?
