Jamie Moyer Home

Listed by Wesley Jones, Keller Williams Rlty Bellevue

After being on and off the market since 2010, the Seattle home of former professional baseball player Jamie Moyer has sold for $3.2 million. The pitcher scooped up the seven-bedroom, 4.5- bathroom estate for $2.805 million in 2001, while he was playing for the Seattle Mariners. His first attempt to sell the manse was in 2010 for $7.8 million. The home dropped in price significantly over the years, before the buyer swooped in this month stealing the home for $4.6 million less than the original asking price.

While the home may seem like it came at a discounted price, there is nothing cheap about this luxury abode. Listing photos reveal a beautiful gourmet kitchen with French marble flooring and enough counter space for any cooking enthusiast! The mansion is full of character, with exposed brick living spaces and elegant arched doorways leading to different sections of the estate. Moyer’s guests were probably never bored: The abode has a theater room, pool and a beautiful outdoor entertaining area with a barbecue grill. And of course, the home comes with its own batting cage!

The gated estate sits on nearly a half-acre surrounded by large hedges, giving the new owners plenty of privacy. The house was built in 1933 and, while much of the home has been renovated, it still maintains its historical charm.

What do you think of Moyer’s former crib? Let us know in the comment below!

Jimmy Kimmel's former home

Listed by Karen Misraje, Partners Trust Beverly Hills

The TV comedian just sold his Los Angeles abode for $2,178,200 … and it’s apparently just as likable as he is!

While Jimmy Kimmel is pretty good at entertaining a television audience, he’s probably not so bad at entertaining his guests, either. This home’s backyard has a BBQ, pizza oven, hot tub AND a beer keg dispenser! How’s that for luxury entertainment?

The five-bedroom, five-bathroom home is full of charm with a fabulous mix of midcentury modern design and elegance. Beautiful hardwood floors and large windows give the home a bright and airy feel. Many of the rooms are decorated with tasteful and simple neutral-toned furniture, giving the 3,605-square-foot home a clean, finished look. It is also hard not to love the colorful tiling in some of the bathrooms, which adds a nice splash of color to the home’s décor! The home was built in 1947 and is perched on a high hill offering stunning views of the surrounding area.

The list of impressive features includes a gourmet kitchen equipped with a dessert refrigerator, separate icemaker, working soda dispenser and a large electric adjustable dining table … with a seating booth! Not so surprisingly, the home also has a recording studio with a sound booth. Maybe the TV show host is planning on training his children to follow in his footsteps?

Kimmel purchased the property back in 2002 for $925,000.

What do you think of Kimmel’s former crib? Let us know in the comments below!

It’s no surprised that Gyllenhaal held onto this gated compound for as long as he did, the home is full of charm and style. The two-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom abode was built in 1948 and maintains that classic midcentury modern vibe. The interior of the home boasts chic and modern décor, with white walls and neutral toned furniture giving the home a bright and airy feel. After the success of “Silver Linings Playbook” and “The Hunger Games” series, it was time for Jennifer Lawrence to move out of her two-bedroom condo, which was owned by her parents! The 24-year-old Oscar-winning actress recently plunked down $8.225 million for a home in Beverly Hills that once belonged to Jessica Simpson and, before that, Ellen DeGeneres.

Lawrence discussed her recent move with Extra’s Mario Lopez, saying, “I just moved into a house. I am in the middle of [decorating it.] It’s Ellen’s old house. It was Jessica Simpson’s old house. It’s like the neighborhood whore. I was outside and some girl was like ‘I grew up in this house.’ Beat it kid. Everybody’s lived in this house.”

Jennifer Lawrence Home

Lawrence’s new home is walled and gated.

The five-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom estate spans 5,500 square feet and has been recently renovated with interior designs by Rachel Ashwell of Shabby Chic Couture. It’s quite an upgrade from the condo in Santa Monica that her parents purchased in 2006, which Lawrence has been living in since she was 15 years old!

Jennifer Lawrence Condo

Lawrence’s condo in Santa Monica is still owned by her parents.

“Jennifer Lawrence’s new home is just as charming as she is,” said Redfin real estate agent Alec Traub. “It has a lot of little details that give it character, like ebonized hardwood floors, crown moldings and french doors.”

Jennifer Lawrence House

The stone courtyard offers a bit of serenity from the city.

The walled and gated home sits on 0.31 acres of densely landscaped grounds, offering plenty of privacy from her adoring fans. Amenities include a commercial-style gourmet kitchen, home gym and office. The master suite has a sitting area with doors that open to a large deck with view of the grounds. Outside, there’s a swimming pool surrounded by a stone courtyard that leads to a koi pond.

Jennifer Lawrence Backyard

The grounds include a large pool surrounded by dense landscaping.

The home is right next door to the estate once owned by Kimora Lee Simmons, where filming took place for Simmons’ reality TV show “Life in the Fab Lane.” It’s also around the corner from Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman’s residence.

Justin Bieber shouldn’t be throwing any stones these days, because he is now renting a glass house in Beverly Hills, according to TMZ.

Justin Bieber

The Canadian-born star is paying nearly $60,000 a month for the architectural wonder, which was designed by renowned architect Ed Niles. According to property records, the owner of the landmark home splashed out $10.5 million back in March for the home, which is known as the “Salad Spinner” house due to its structure.

Justin Bieber

The 20-year-old’s new home is a massive and transparent six-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom estate. The unique crib is made up of circular walls of glass and custom stainless windows and doors, taking advantage of the fantastic views of the city and ocean! Bieber’s new estate also has a pool and stunning outdoor entertaining areas. But, the neighbors shouldn’t be too concerned. At 7,500 square feet, the home should be large enough that his parties probably won’t disturb anyone who lives close by.

Nick Nolte Sells Home for $4.3 Million Less Than Original Asking Price

Nick Nolte Home

Nick Nolte just sold his home in Malibu for $3.9 million; that’s $4.3 million less than the original asking price!  The 73-year-old actor listed the house in April 2013 for $8.25 million, but the property’s price has been lowered significantly since it hit the market. The home’s new owner certainly got a deal on the actor’s former residence, which spans 6,006 square feet and sits on over two acres of land.

Nick Nolte Home

The property’s grounds are absolutely gorgeous with a touch of romance, landscaped with sycamore and pine trees. Inside, the home is just as romantic as the outside, with Italian marble floors, French doors and windows, high vaulted ceilings and carved wooden fireplaces. A mahogany arched entranceway with onyx floors leads into a spacious living room with plenty of natural light coming from the skylights above. The property also has a two-bedroom, three-bathroom guest house, tennis court and a pool and spa in the backyard, making this estate feel more like a vacation destination than a home.

Nick Nolte

Nolte, who has been nominated for three Academy Awards, must have a passion for music as well as acting; the 17th listing photo shows a room full of guitars. Other photos reveal décor with an Asian influence, including two Chinese guardian lion statues at the entrance into the living room.

Nolte has owned the home since 1991.

Let us know what you think of Nolte’s décor choices in the comments below! Follow me on Twitter @AlannaFinnNYC for more celebrity real estate updates.

When Stars Collide: Check Out These Celebrity Neighbors

Try picturing Ellen DeGeneres walking over to the Playboy Mansion to ask Hugh Hefner for a cup of sugar, or Keanu Reeves running over to Leonardo DiCaprio’s house to return a drill he borrowed. Well, those scenarios aren’t too far from reality. We put together this list of a few not-so-likely celebrities who live next door to each other.

1. Hugh Hefner and Ellen DeGeneres

Hugh Hefner Ellen DeGeneres

When Hugh Hefner throws a Playboy party, do you think he invites Ellen and Portia? He should have, considering they were neighbors from 2010 until this year. Given how famous the Playboy mansion is, Ellen must have known what she was getting into when she paid almost $40 million to live next door. Perhaps she likes the views!

2. Keanu Reeves and Leonardo DiCaprio

 Keanu Reeves Leonardo DiCaprio

Keanu Reeves and Leonardo DiCaprio have been neighbors for quite a long time; DiCaprio bought his home in 1999 and Reeves moved in two years later. Leo’s “Wolf of Wall Street” character may have been from New York, but he is obviously a California boy at heart.

3. Queen Latifah and Amy Adams

1398727601_462514321_queen-latifah-zoom Amy Adams

Queen Latifah is a New Jersey native, and Adams was born in Italy, but now they live next door! Maybe the two can house sit for each other when they decide to travel back to their hometowns. The Queen threw some pretty epic parties in “Bringing Down the House” … Adams can possibly hustle on over to the Queen’s backyard for a joint pool party … minus the ex-convicts.

4. Kurt Russell, Goldie Hawn and Adam Sandler

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn Adam Sandler

Kurt Russell and longtime girlfriend Goldie Hawn have been Adam Sandler’s neighbors since Sandler moved into the neighborhood with his wife back in 2008. If these two couples got together for a movie night, which movie do you think they would pick: Kurt’s “Death Proof,” Goldie’s “The First Wives Club,” or Adam’s “Happy Gilmore”?

Let us know which celebrity you would want to live next to on Facebook, Twitter, G+ or in the comments below.

Dick Clark’s Bedrock Beauty Finally Sells

Dick Clark's HomeYabba dabba doo! The late Dick Clark’s famed “Flintstones” Malibu home has finally found a buyer for the bargain price tag of $1,777,777.

The estate first appeared on the market back in 2012 for $3.5 million, but that number wasn’t getting any buyers in this bedrock’s door. A year later, the price was knocked down by a whopping $250,000 to $3.25 million. According to property records, the last listed price for the home before it sold was $2.295 million.

The house is certainly one of a kind, with a unique architectural style which makes it look like it is made out of rocks. And even if you’re not into the whole rock look, the estate sits on approximately 23 acres! Maybe the new owner, who is still unknown, was looking for a little privacy and seclusion when they splashed out the money for this home. The caveman crib also has 360-degree view of the Pacific Ocean, Channel Islands and Boney Mountains.

The interior of the home is just as interesting as the exterior, with multiple windows overlooking the property and vaulted ceilings that add to that “cave” aesthetic. It is a fantastic blend of natural and functional.

Let us know in the comments below if you would want to live like a modern day Flintstone in this bedrock abode or if you prefer a home with a more futuristic appeal, like something from the Jetsons.

UnReal Estate of the Week: The Most Talked About Celebrity Homes of 2014

$

0

Many stars were playing the real estate game this year, but there were some high rollers in the market who were dealing in some serious “unreal” estate.  We took a look at a few star-studded transactions to highlight some of the most outrageous estates of 2014.

Rihanna’s Pacific Palisades Property Put Up for Sale

Rhianna's Home

Earlier this year, Rihanna listed her Pacific Palisades home for $14.995 million. The stunning modern mansion has seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms and spans 9,595-square-feet. While the home comes with all of the perks of luxury living, such as a gourmet chef’s kitchen and a master suite with its own fireplace, the outside amenities knock most others out of the park. The backyard looks more like a resort rooftop pool at a Las Vegas hotel than a home. The professionally landscaped grounds set a beautiful backdrop for the extravagant outdoor lounge area. The price of the estate was recently slashed to $12.995 million.

Leonardo DiCaprio Picks Up New Digs in Palm Springs

Leonardo DiCaprio's Home

At some point between filming “Wolf of Wall Street” and getting nominated for an Oscar, Leonardo DiCaprio found time to scoop up this beautiful Palm Springs estate. This home is just as A-list as its owner. The property has a tennis court, outdoor pool and plenty of outdoor space for entertaining with gorgeous views of the surrounding area. The home was quite literally made for a star, but not for Leo. It was designed by architect Donald Wexler for singer and actress Dinah Shore in 1964. While the manse is certainly updated with all of the modern conveniences, the abode maintains that midcentury modern (and fabulous) vibe.

Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady Hand Off Opulent Estate to Dr. Dre

Dr. Dre's New Home

This home is the definition of opulence. Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady spared no expense when designing their custom Los Angeles home, and the  enormous 18,298-square-foot mansion certainly reflects the couple’s expensive taste. Some of the property’s unique and luxurious features include a custom-designed gym, walls made of three types of Texas limestone, an oak paneled library and a pool lined with hand-poured glass tile. Dr. Dre also seems to have a taste for the finer things in life as he splashed out $40 million for the abode in June shortly after the couple put the personalized palace on the market.

The Late Robin Williams’ Napa Valley Estate Hits the Market

The Late Robin Williams Estate

This estate belonged to the late Robin Williams, and it is absolutely gorgeous. His Napa Valley estate, which hit the market in November for $25.9 million, sits on 63 acres, including 18 acres of premium vineyards. The property also has more than 100 olive trees, a nine-stall horse barn, riding trails, a spring-fed pond and a four-bedroom caretaker’s house.

Justin Bieber Can’t Throw Stones, He Now Rents a Glass House

Justin Bieber's Rented Home

Justin Bieber recently made headlines for renting the famed “Salad Spinner” house in Beverly Hills, which reports say the star is paying $60,000 a month for in rent. The 20-year-old’s newly rented home is pretty crazy looking. It’s made up of circular walls of glass and doesn’t leave much to the imagination, it is almost completely transparent! The architectural wonder has fantastic views of the city and ocean, which can be enjoyed from the comfort of a lounge chair by the outdoor pool.  Other than being really cool looking, the unique crib has a six-car garage, elevator and promises wonderful views from every room.

Jason Bateman's home

Jason Bateman just unloaded his Los Angeles abode for $2.228 million. The actor purchased the midcentury modern home with his wife Amanda Bateman for $885,000 in 2002, a year before the actor was cast as Michael Bluth in the comedy series “Arrested Development.”

Jason Bateman's home

The charming four-bedroom, three-bathroom home spans 2,879 square feet. The celebrity retreat has hardwood and stone flooring and custom finishes throughout. Listing photos reveal beautiful, lush landscaping and a koi pond. Bateman and his wife have two daughters, so the gated compound also offered added security for the parents.

Jason Bateman's home

The home certainly sold quickly. The couple listed it November 3, and they accepted an offer on November 17!

Miley Cyrus Selling Family Home for $5.995 Million

It’s just Miley being Miley!

“Hannah Montana” star Miley Cyrus just listed her family’s Los Angeles home for $5.995 million. The six-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom abode is in the affluent area of Toluca Lake and was designed by famed architect Bob Easton.

Miley Cyrus

The mansion was purchased by Miley’s parents in 2007 for $5.838 million, but according to property records the home was handed over to Miley in 2012. The Cyrus crib officially hit the market on January 19.

The beautiful Tuscan compound isn’t exactly what you’d imagine the party girl living in. The outside of the home has a whimsical old-world feeling, with wrought iron accents, copper rain gutters, a Juliet balcony and ivy climbing some of the home’s exterior walls. The gated estate spans 8,700 square feet and has a security system with plenty of cameras to ensure ultimate privacy, a luxury the Disney actress could surely afford. Beautiful landscaping and tall palm trees add to the Cyrus residence‘s feeling of peace and tranquility, a few more adjectives you wouldn’t necessarily associate with someone who “came in like a wrecking ball.”

Miley Cyrus

The interior of the mansion is also more traditional than one would expect from the girl who always has her tongue sticking out. It may have been handed over to the 22-year-old performer in 2012, but many of the rooms look like they have been influenced by her father, country music singer Billy Ray Cyrus. The photo below shows one of the rooms decorated with guitars.

Miley Cyrus

Of course Ms. Cyrus’ home comes with a few fun amenities, such as a home theater decorated with red velvet, an outdoor pool with an entertainment area AND a half-pipe for skateboarding. It’s possible the half pipe was built for her brother, Trace, or her sister, Noah.

Miley Cyrus

What do you think of the half-pipe in the Cyrus family’s backyard? Let us know in the comments below!

It’s in the Stars: 7 Celebrities Most Likely to Buy a Home in 2015

$
0
0

Most people buy a home and plan to live in it for at least a few years, but we all know that many celebrities change homes as often as they change outfits. Here are our predictions for stars who are most likely to look for a new address in 2015, based on recent changes in their life, like major movie deals or relationship status updates.

Splitsville … a home for one?

Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson will most likely be in the market for a new home this year. The actress recently split from Muse frontman Matt Bellamy, who has already moved on to his own bachelor pad in Malibu. Kate Hudson still has the English-style home she purchased with Bellamy in Pacific Palisades, but it wouldn’t be a shock if she decided to leave the marital mansion in the dust to pick up something a bit more appropriate for a newly single gal. The couple purchased the home back in 2011 for $5.3 million; the sale of the home alone would certainly give the actress enough dough to work with when seeking a new home for her and her two children.

Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey will certainly be in the market for a new abode this year; with her recent split from Nick Cannon, she and her soon-to-be-former hubby will be seeking bachelor and bachelorette pads. Mariah’s net worth is about $250 million, which is plenty for a new crib. The marital mansion is on the market for $12.995 million.

Book Deals

Nick Cannon

Nick Cannon

Speaking of Mariah Carey’s former beau, Nick Cannon landed a publishing deal with Scholastic to publish an illustrated poetry book for kids. The book is set to be released in March. With the sale of his former home and proceeds from his new book deal, Cannon should be in a good spot to splash out some cash for a rockin’ bachelor pad.

Aziz Ansari

Aziz Ansari

Nick isn’t the only one getting in on the literary action. Aziz Ansari locked in a profitable book deal this year. Ansari got a hefty sum of $3.5 million as an advance for his book, which talks about living the single life. The comedian currently resides in a lovely 1960s home in Los Angeles, which he scooped up back in 2013 for $2.687 million. We are sure the “Parks and Recreation” star will be looking to upgrade once his book is released in September.

Movie Deals

Paul Rudd

Paul Rudd

Paul Rudd is having a pretty good year already. He’s the leading man in Marvel’s new movie “Ant-Man,” and Marvel has a reputation for making actors very rich; Robert Downey Jr. is listed as one of Hollywood’s highest paid actors thanks to the comic book company. While Rudd’s current home sounds pretty sweet (it has an Irish pub in the basement!), with the extra cash flow he may be thinking about springing for a second place to call home. With a house in New York, we’re thinking somewhere a bit warmer. We hear California is nice.

Chris Pratt

Chris Pratt

Chris Pratt is one of those rising stars you just know is about to get even bigger. He started out on the show “Parks and Recreation” but has since climbed to the top where he now sits among the A-listers. Pratt was the leading man in the popular film “Guardians of the Galaxy” and is also the voice of the main character in “The Lego Movie,” which grossed $468 million. So what’s next? Pratt is set to star in the much-anticipated “Jurassic World,” which hits theaters this June. The actor currently lives in a beautiful resort-like home in Los Angeles with his wife, actress Anna Faris.  The two purchased the property back in 2013, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the couple went for an upgrade now that there is a lot more money coming in.

Business Deals

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift

Six months of touring earned Taylor Swift $30 million in 2014; that’s $5 million a month! The 23-year-old star is also raking in the big bucks with sponsorships from Keds, Elizabeth Arden and Diet Coke. Swift was also a chart-topper last year with her newest album “1989.” Swift currently owns a fitting country-style home in Beverly Hills; maybe we should follow the location of her newest love interest to predict where she will move next.

Let us know which stars you think will be splashing out some cash for a new home this year in the comments below.

Could Liddy Afford the Watergate? Maybe a One Bedroom

Deflategate,  Gamergate, Bridgegate. How do we dream up these labels?

Oh right. Watergate. For all its notoriety, the Potomac River co-op that gave rise to an all-purpose scandal suffix is doing OK for itself these days. Two units are on the market for $2 million or more, including this $3 million penthouse with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a 1,600-square-foot terrace (and a heck of a view!).

watergate3million

Back in the early 1970s, Gordon Liddy reportedly was paid about $332,000 by supporters of President Richard M. Nixon, who wanted the scoop on Democratic foes who had set up shop on a sixth-floor Watergate office. Back then political “intelligence gathering” apparently included criminal acts, and Liddy was convicted of conspiracy and other crimes on this date in 1973.

His opposition-research fee amounts to almost $1.6 million in today’s dollars. Not shabby, but it wouldn’t go far at the Watergate. Co-op fees alone at the Potomac River complex can top $7,000 a month (like for this 4-bedroom, 4.5-bath penthouse).

The money would have gone a lot further back in the early 1970s, when the Watergate was shiny new and a penthouse could be had for $250,000. And Liddy would have fit right in. In 1969, Life magazine declared that more than a dozen Nixon aides lived in the building.

These days, one of the most affordable units at the Watergate is this two-bedroom, two-bath for $540,000. As you might expect, the view isn’t quite as nice.

Celebrity Home Décor: Who Wore It Best?

Nick Jonas Asking $3.6M for Mediterranean Estate

$

Nick Jonas is on the move, as the star just listed his Los Angeles mansion for $3.6 million.

The dreamy four-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom Mediterranean estate is situated just above the Sunset Strip and has beautiful panoramic views of downtown Los Angeles.

Nick Jonas

With so many Jonas fanatics out there, it’s no surprise that the property has plenty of privacy; it’s located at the end of a cul-de-sac behind large security gates.

The charming abode has the perfect balance of modern aesthetic and old-world charm, with beautiful hardwood floors, a large open living room with a wood-burning fireplace and a grand dining room that’s perfect for entertaining a large number of guests.

Nick Jonas

The 22-year-old musician-turned-television actor certainly has an eye for style, as much of the interior décor errs on the side of sophisticated and simple with dark wood accents and neutral tones in each room.

Nick Jonas

Jonas rose to fame after forming a pop-rock band with his brothers, Kevin Jonas and Joe Jonas. The band split back in 2013 and he now stars on the DirectTV drama “Kingdom,” which has just been signed for two more seasons. The performer will also appear as a guest mentor for season 8 of “The Voice,” as a member of Christina Aguilera’s team. With 2015 already looking pretty booked for Jonas, maybe he decided to sell because he will just be too busy to enjoy a life at home this year.

Let us know in the comments below what you think of Jonas’ former crib. Follow me on Twitter @AlannaFinnNYC for more celebrity real estate updates.

Matthew Perry just unloaded some serious real estate in Malibu for $10.65 million! The actor, most famous for his role as Chandler on the hit TV show “Friends,” purchased the contemporary home back in 2005 for a little more than $6.5 million.

Matthew Perry

The four-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom manse is a far cry from Chandler’s New York City apartment, as this modern mansion’s interior is sharp and sophisticated with sliding glass walls that open to the outside, giving the home an airy indoor/outdoor feel. The expansive deck offers stunning ocean views that can be enjoyed from the enormous outdoor swimming pool and lounge area, which also has a fire pit.

Matthew Perry

Perry’s former crib also has a game room, home theater and a chic designer kitchen. The estate sits on 2.5 acres and was built in 1981. The 45-year-old star listed the stunning property for $13.5 million in 2011, and then dropped the price a year later to $12.5 million. It looks like the buyer negotiated that down by nearly $2 million!

Matthew Perry

One of Perry’s most recent projects is his role in the revival of the 1970s show “The Odd Couple,” which is set to air February 19.

Let us know what you think of Perry’s modern marvel in the comments below!

Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man seems to be leaving his neighborhood in Brentwood, California.

Tobey Maguire

“Spider-Man” star Tobey Maguire just listed his six-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom plantation home for $10.25 million. The home is incredibly warm and charming, with a fantastic open floor plan perfect for entertaining. French doors lead out to a large outdoor living room situated among the lushly landscaped backyard.

The interior of the home is artfully decorated, which is no surprise considering the star’s wife is jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer. The kitchen combines a natural wood finish with a light stone floor, giving the room a bright and airy feel. The kitchen opens up to the dining area, which has soaring wood-beamed ceilings and skylights that bring plenty of natural light into the space.

Tobey Maguire

The couple must have enjoyed their master suite, which has not one but TWO fireplaces. The room also has a sitting area with large windows overlooking the property.

It will be interesting to see who scoops up this home next, as Maguire was not the first celebrity to own this piece of land. The actor purchased the property from Ricki Lake back in January 2014 for $8.45 million.

There’s something serene about walking onto your front porch or back patio with a glass of wine and a good book and perching yourself atop a pretty swing. Between the soothing swaying, beautiful design and nostalgic feel, there aren’t many things you need outside of that little moment.

Porch swings have made a major comeback in recent years, with many styles skewing toward more contemporary silhouettes and colors. Traditional porch and patio swings are still plenty popular. They’re even being added to more modern homes to give them a classic vibe. A porch swing is the perfect way to ensure your home is prepped and ready for the dog days of summer. Here are a few of our favorite ways to implement this swinging seat into your home’s front or backyard design.

Delightful Daybed

Take the comfort level one step further by converting your porch swing to a daybed complete with a fitted mattress, throw blankets and plenty of pillows. Create a bohemian getaway with natural textures and tonal colors like beige and off-white, or add a bolt of color with more traditional tones of red and blue. A daybed is the perfect way to add a cozy element to a small garden area, back porch overlooking a pool or front patio with a picturesque view of tree-lined streets.

Sweet Country Swing

There’s a reason that porch swings have such a calming, nostalgic feel to them. Sitting on a porch swing evokes visions of a grassy yard, a picket fence and a pretty porch wrapped around a Colonial home. This scene offers a comforting retreat after a long day of work or a particularly warm evening. Create a countryside feel by adding a porch swing to your front yard landscape, including a bistro table for lunchtime and an outdoor rug for comfort underfoot for when you finally decide to get up.

A Modern Solution

Porch swings aren’t only for the traditionalist! Contemporary homeowners can find a swinging solution with more modern silhouettes, sleek finishes and interesting use of materials. Instead of a wooden or wicker bench seat, consider a more contemporary finish like acrylic or plastic. These materials are sturdy and have an up-to-the-minute look to them. If you’d still like to use wicker, select a silhouette that has an interesting woven pattern, color or stitch to it. Add pops of color with plush pillows and throw blankets, and don’t forget to pile on the pattern for added dimension.
