Nick Nolte, who will star in the upcoming film “The Impossible Dream,” listed his Malibu home for $8.25 million on April 23. The actor purchased the home in 1990 for $2.35 million. It sits on two acres in Bonsall Canyon and is surrounded by sycamore, coral and pine trees.
The main residence is more than 6,000 square feet, with four bedrooms and four baths, including a master suite with a sitting room, two fireplaces, a library/office and breathtaking views of the grounds.
Details include an arched mahogany entryway, onyx floor, 19 foot vaulted ceilings, skylights, a total of six stone and carved wood fireplaces, Italian marble floors and mahogany French doors. The property includes a lighted tennis court, lagoon pool and spa, and a two bedroom, three bath guesthouse. The listing photos show Nolte’s love of guitars, motorcycles, and eastern decor.
The home has celebrity history; former owners include comedian Tommy Chong, Don Felder of the Eagles and music producer David Foster. It is listed by Jane Kellard of Westside Estate Agency-Malibu.
Nolte, who starred in “Down and Out in Beverly Hills,” “The Prince of Tides,” and “The Thin Red Line,” was arrested in 2002 for driving under the influence on the Pacific Coast Highway. The resulting mug shot of him in a Hawaiian shirt and frazzled hair went viral. Nolte told GQ Magazine that he had been taking the drug GHB on a daily basis for about four years for arthritic pain, which is why he received the DUI.
